Don was one of the Charter Members of CRCC. He always had a smile on his face and was always looking to have fun, be it driving his Corvette, hunting and fishing or having a beer with friends and family.
During the fall of 1962 in the garage of a member, the love of Corvettes united a group of Collins Radio Company employees to form the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club officially in 1963.
From the first club community event to starting a tradition, the founding members accomplished a lot in 1963. Pictured is the first time the club drove their cars as honorary parade vehicles at Hawkeye Downs.
From fifteen charter members to over one hundred members today, the club has grown and continues to be a part of the Cedar Rapids community and the surrounding area. Pictured is the founding members and their cars in summer 1963.
The original fifteen charter members laid the foundations of the club, including the motto "Progress, Courtesy and Safety". Pictured above is some of the original charter members celebrating the clubs 40th anniversary.
With more than fifty years of events and charities in the area, the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club is a big part of many schools and organizations, as well as other communities.
